Squarespace Blogs Build Trust With Audiences and Google

Squarespace Blogs Build Trust

It may seem obvious that building trust with your audience is essential to developing relationships you can nurture so your target customers will eventually do business with you.

But many Squarespace users aren’t aware that they also need to show Google they have the authority to solve niche problems their target audience is searching for online.

The best way to show your target audience you have the authority to solve their problem(s) and demonstrate your trustworthiness is through blogging.

This article talks about how blogging is the best way to 1) Gain the trust of target customers and 2) Gain the trust of Google so you will show up in Google searches.

Blogging is Better Than Social Media at Building Trust With Your Audience?

Long Form Content

Considered “Long-form content,” blogging allows you to go into greater detail on topics that align with your products or services and show how you can solve your target audience’s pain point(s).

Blogging highlights you as an expert at what you do and demonstrates your ability to reliably solve niche problems for your target audience, making them feel more comfortable about the prospect of doing business with you.

97% of your website visitors aren’t ready to buy from you…YET! The more you can demonstrate your ability and show that you have street cred, the more likely you are to convert some of these visitors into customers.

Compared to Social Media

Blogs are created to provide value. This focus on adding value rather than merely capturing momentary attention lends itself to building credibility and trust.

Social media prioritizes brevity and immediacy, which limits the depth of content and doesn’t convey the full context or the expertise behind the information, leading audiences to question its credibility.

We know how hard it is to constantly “feed the content beast” of social media, meaning we are grasping to create new content that we “hope” will grab the attention of our target audience, often degrading the quality of the content in the process.

IMO, it’s needy, and this needy energy tells the audience that you need THEM more than they need YOU. And it’s no wonder: you’re competing for attention in an environment saturated with content, most of which the viewer isn’t even interested in.

Bottom line: The fleeting and often superficial interactions common on social media platforms are not a great way to build trust with your target audience.

If you focus on consistently creating long-form blogging content, you can easily mine this content and repurpose it for social media. This will make your social media presence more authentic and much less “needy” while also aligning with your overall online presence.

Blogging is How to Build Trust With Google

Google's algorithms are designed to provide users with the most relevant, up-to-date information available. Websites that frequently update their content, such as through regular blog posts, signal to Google that they are actively providing fresh, relevant information. This is important for several reasons:

Freshness

Google's search algorithm has a component known as "Query Deserved Freshness (QDF)," which means that for certain searches, newer content may be more desirable. Regular blogging ensures that your site benefits from this aspect of the algorithm, making it more likely to rank higher in search results for timely queries.

Comprehensive Coverage of Topics

Consistent blogging allows you to cover the topics and problems your want to be known for solving within your niche. This comprehensive coverage not only helps in attracting your target audience but also demonstrates to Google your site’s depth of knowledge and authority on those topics. Google values content depth and breadth as indicators of a site's quality and relevance.

Increased Indexation

Every new blog post is a new page that Google can index. More content means more opportunities for your site to appear in search results. Regular indexing is critical for SEO, as it keeps your site visible and relevant in Google's search results. Furthermore, each piece of content can target specific keywords or questions, improving your visibility for those searches.

User Engagement Signals

Engaging, high-quality blog content can lead to longer dwell times, lower bounce rates, and more interactions on your site. Google uses these user engagement signals as indirect indicators of content quality and relevance.

Websites that consistently engage users with fresh, valuable content will
perform better in Google search results.

In essence, by maintaining an active blog, you're continually sending signals of relevance, authority, and engagement to Google. This not only helps in building trust with the search engine but also enhances your visibility and ranking, making it an essential SEO strategy.

Jen-X’s Social Proof

It’s fine and dandy to listen to me ramble on about blogging with Squarespace, but why should you listen to me?

I spent a full year and countless hours feeding the content beast of Instagram. I was consistent and did “all the things” you’re “supposed” to do on Instagram. And yet, my website traffic was abysmal.

Then I shifted gears and started to blog consistently, and in less than one year, I 3.5X my website traffic, and it continues to grow every month.

Google Search Console Performance

Sure, some months/weeks are better than others, but the needle is moving in the right direction, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that the more you blog, the better you get at it. The more consistent you are, the more traffic and the more clicks you get. (Okay I think that’s more than one thing).

It’s a long game, but blogging is evergreen, as opposed to Instagram which is fleeting and very temporary with the maximum “shelf life” of a post being about 48 hours.
